Cable Drums That Keep Your Door Level

Cable drums sit at each end of the torsion shaft. As the springs turn the shaft, the drums wind the lift cables into their grooves and pull the door up evenly. When a drum cracks, slips on the shaft or wears down its grooves, the cable can jump out and the door goes crooked.

Drums come in different sizes for standard lift, high lift and vertical lift tracks, and the size has to match the springs and door height. The wrong drum throws off the balance of the whole system, which strains the opener and shortens spring life.

We install the correct drum for your door, tighten the set screws properly and inspect the cables and shaft bearings while the system is unloaded. Because drums hold spring tension, this repair should always be handled by a trained technician.
